Abstract: The notion of information literacy was studied and compared with the notion of information culture. Basic skills characteristic of the information literate person were distinguished. The role of information communication technologies (ICT) introduction as a means of obtaining and processing information necessary to form the information society was defined. The factors that can enhance students’ information literacy as well as facilitate its further diagnostics were determined and analyzed.
